FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - T-SHIRTS

...Return to FAQ home

Q: What kind of t-shirts do you use?
A: We only use high quality (of course, everyone says that, but we really do it too) t-shirts from an established vendor. Apart from the fact that we wanna make Cultera products really cool, it is our belief, and we wouldn’t be able to sleep sound at night, knowing that we are selling t-shirts made from cotton that was picked by kids or whole families for some pocket change money. This was the thing that was clear to us from the start and that’s why we’ve only been choosing from vendors that can guarantee us that. In the end we’ve chosen a vendor that has undersigned the Fair Wear Foundation's Code of Labour practices, and thereby is committed to monitor the factories of it's suppliers. The Fair Wear Foundation verifies that the Code of Labour Practices is implemented and respected at the factories.

Q: What exactly does Fair Wear Foundation stand for?
A: The Fair Wear Foundation exists to promote fair labour conditions in the garment industry worldwide. Companies that become members of FWF and sign the Code of Conduct take on the obligation to adhere to the labour standards in their own business operations. They also accept the duty to do everything possible to get other companies in their chain (e.g. suppliers) to respect the labour standards such as: no use of forced labour, safe and healthy working conditions, no use of child labour, legal labour contract, payment of a living wage, freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, no discrimination against employees and no excessive hours of work. In addition to that, our vendor of the t-shirts uses only cotton that does not come from Uzbekistan, where a state monopoly is relying on slave labour and the forced labour of hundreds of thousands of children working in appalling conditions for little or often no pay.

Q: How do I take care of my t-shirts?
A: All the t-shirts come equipped with standard washing signs, but in a nutshell: wash at low temperatures, hang to dry (it’s also better for the environment), always iron inside out, and mos-def never iron over any of the printed areas. Unlike diamonds, t-shirts unfortunately are not forever, but this is the way to ensure the two of you will be happy together for quite a long time. On the other hand, not following these instructions is a great way to shorten that period significantly.

Q: Well that's just great, my size is not available...what's up with that?
A: Unfortunately, this happens some times. T-shirt manufacturers produce t-shirts in certain cycles and the amount of specific sizes & models they produce are based on some predictions and forecasts. In other words, they guess. So, especially during the second half of each year, and for sizes like XS, XL and XXL, they might run out of stock. But, fear not, we have other options. If your size is unavailable for specific design you really like, drop us an e-mail at info(a)cultera.com, and we'll go over the alternatives. (usually different color/model, or the "wait" approach). And, hey, thanks for your understanding!
